Flagellol = Niridazole

Post by Matte_g » 15 Jan 2008, 08:36

Hi I found out that sera has a medication called Flagellol.
The active substance is 5-nitro,1,3-tiazol, 2-yl.

Is there any body that knows the benefits of using Niridazole instead of Metro???

Niridazole, a nitrothiazole derivative, has a wide range of antimicrobial activities against helminths, protozoa (6), and bacteria, including staphylococci, streptococci, and some aerobic gram-negative bacilli (1, 5, 6, 11).
The chemical structure of niridazole is similar to that of metronidazole (2). Since the latter compound is especially active against anaerobic bacteria (4, 7, 12) and against certain strains of microaerophilic Campylobacter spp. (10), it seemed
worthwhile to compare the activities of niridazole and metronidazole against selected isolates of these organisms.

So flagellol dosent contain any Metronidazole?

Will flagelol only eliminate flagelates like Metronidazole? Or does it work on tape worm as well?

There is a large artikle about the new Sera produkts and how they work in Diskus Jahrbuch 2008, written by Dieter Untergasser. I think that you can get the answer there Matte :tumme2:

Get a copy of the article, and I will translate it for you!

The substance seems to me being somewhat like both Enheptin and Metronidazole, in which case it would function as a mild desinfectant, and possibly being effective as a remedy against flagellates, but not intestinal worms. But I have not read the text yet, so I dont know what it is.
