Hello Bucket,
Yes patience, not something Im good at, Just getting very excited thats all. Ive only breed domestics by accident in the past so watching and trying to help things along is new to me. I keep Discus because they are beautiful but I can see the breeding bug catching very fast here.
The tank is 6'x2'x2.5' and the cabinet is about 35" high so its both a deep tank and high of the ground. The cabinet height was to allow the big Eheim Pro 3's to fit in.
Funnily enough, Im going to do a big water change tomorrow and I have already lowered the heaters temp a couple of degrees to see if that works.

Well, about 2 hours ago this happened. Sods law, I missed it, I checked in on them about 3hours ago and nothing but checked again about 10 minutes ago and there they where. The male seems to be defending the territory quite well at this early stage and the mother is fanning nicely.

Sadly I didnt get to change the water, I would normally be doing it right now, but Im reluctant to do that at the moment.
Strangely, another pair has started to at the other end of the tank, so the group is now stuck in the middle not being allowed to move anywhere. This new pair are a few days behind the first pair but fingers crossed again.
There seem to be quite alot of battle scars developing over the last couple of days, for example split fins. The fighst are really aggressive.

The second pair have started doing dry runs today after a day yesterday of cleaning the spawning site. Sorry these pics are not very good, the position from a photography point of view is hopeless. Sadly I cant quite see the place where they are doing the dry runs so I wont know if they have laid or not but I dont think they have yet.
The first pair, they still have there eggs and they look good so far, thats now 24hours since laying. The male is doing a great job at defending the territory.
