Hi Heiko.
I would check with you if you know of any large plantations of F2 altum?
I have seen breeders sell this from Malaysia now.
Grateful for answers.
Best regards
Tommy.

Maybe just that picture, labeled as altum, but seems like it´s missing the bump on the nose?

Re: Breeders of F2 altum
Hi guys,
it is 4 am and I want to answer fast.
I think I have really done everything possible for anyone to be able to understand what a real P. altum, as described by Pellegrin and which lives onyl in the upper Orinoco basin and nowhere else, looks like.
I have made a special video (it is on my website to buy and download - 10 minutes), and written a complete report in DISCUSBOOK01 of the two main populations existing. With extra large photos.
I have only seen photos of the fishes at Tony Tan's place, those are orginally from Jeffrey Tan. And I know that Jeffrey already told me in April in Lecce, that they are starting to breed the P. latum. I asked Jeffrey if it is the real one, and his answer was it came from Bogota (and he actually told me the incredible quantities which arrived dead - he must have lost a fortune).
I trust Jeffrey, he is a 100% correct and good person. But I must say that the photos I saw do not help for me to give a 100% judgement. The Colombian (exporter) who saw it said it is not. To me the (bad, or not so good) facebook photos look not as the one from the Rio Atabapo (the most beautiful and giant one of the populations).
The behaviour of P. altum is completely different from any other angelfish, the way it swims, turns, this fish is so incredible majestic, that one, if he once had it, can understand and see the immediately what it is. If I see the fish, I can also tell you immediately. Or if I have at least a very sharp, closeup, photos.
Good night and all the very best
always
