Genuine altum or not?
Hello Heiko.
I have a question for you regarding Altum. Do you think these scalars in the picture is genuine altum from Rio Orinoco? I apologize for the bad picture, but hope you can give an answer in spite of the bad image.

Best Regards Tommy.

Re: Genuine altum or not?
Hi,
sorry for the late answer.
Yes these are real P. altum Pellegrin, 1904 from the upper Orinoco drainage. You can see it by the way the bend they can do with their body (only the real P. altum can do that, no other angelfish) and also the tail and fin pattern is only in altum like this (the pattern/stripes) and well as the head formation (extreme).
All the very best,
always

Dear Heiko,
It would be very kind of you if you could share some knowledge on how to spot a true P. Atum Pellegrin 1904. What are the main differences between the true Pellegrin 1904 and the other wild caught Angels?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi
I think we just bought altums from the same Czeh guy. Our altums are F4 what he said. But he also said, that this is a generation from spawn that German Mr Linke (I think that was the name) and Czeh man did some years ago.

Hi Barbara,
Interresting!
Are there any official confirmations on successful Pterophyllum Altum Pellegrin 1903 spawning available?

I'm not the expert around here... but, if the fish in your images are being sold as F4 Altums I would dare to say they are cross bred...Gajowa wrote:Hi
